FAIR AND ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
The use of the Volts Internet Service and network is permitted subject to the following conditions. It is your responsibility to ensure that anyone using your account is aware of the obligations under it. This requirement extends to children, members of the household or guests, employees, business guests, or anyone accessing the network through your home or business premises either knowingly or otherwise:
1.1 The Services CANNOT be used for the following:
a) fraudulently or in connection with any criminal offence;
b) to send, knowingly receive, upload, download, or use any material which is offensive, abusive, indecent, defamatory, obscene or menacing, or in breach of copyright, confidence, privacy or any other rights;
c) to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety;
d) to "spam" or to send or provide unsolicited advertising or promotional material or, knowingly to receive responses to any spam, unsolicited advertising or promotional material sent or provided by any third party;
e) in any way which, in our opinion, is or is likely to be detrimental to the provision of services to you or any of our customers, or to our business and/or reputation;
f) in contravention of any licences or third party rights, or;
g) in a way that does not comply with any instructions provided to you;
h) commercial purposes (unless you are a business customer using the appropriate business service);
i) knowingly or negligently transmitting or uploading files that contain viruses or any file or programme which will be likely to cause disruption or breakdown of the service;
j) anything that may disrupt or interfere with the Volts Internet service or network;
k) launching denial of service (DoS) attacks or similar against a host or network;
l) reselling the service;
m) collecting, streaming, storing, accessing, distributing and material that cannot be legally collected, streamed, stored, accessed or distributed;
n) for performing or allowing anyone else to perform any unauthorised IP or Port multicasting, spoofing, broadcasting, vectoring, filtering translation or routing.
1.2 It is your responsibility to ensure that no user of the service places unusual or excessive burdens on the network by sending or receiving large volumes of email or excessively large file attachments.
1.3 You accept that Volts Internet reserves the right to slow down the speed of service of any user responsible for excessive use of data to the detriment of other users on the network. Such intervention would only occur after the user has used more than 150GB of data in a one month period.
2. YOUR OBLIGATION
2.1. You are responsible for taking all reasonable steps necessary to prevent a third party obtaining access to the network.
2.2 You are responsible for all uses made of Volts Internet services through your account (whether authorised or unauthorised) and for any breach of this Policy.
2.3 You agree that Volts Internet cannot be held responsible for any of your activities in using the network and that it is not our responsibility to screen, filter out or otherwise restrict access to websites that some may deem offensive.
3. BREACH OF POLICY
3.1. If any customer’s use of these services constitutes a breach of this Policy, Volts Internet may, at its option and discretion either give the member notice to stop the unacceptable use(s) or terminate that member’s services with or without notice as Volts Internet considers appropriate).
