Is Your Broadband Service Slow or is it Something Else?

We’ve all done it, - caught ourselves waiting for a page to load when we’ve been online and complained out loud, lamenting the parentage of our service provider. But is it always the service provider’s fault? Sometimes it isn’t. Something we’ve noticed in Cornwall, in particular, is that a standard install of one router in a traditional build (stone or cob) property is usually not enough to fully cover the whole property. Unless you use multi-directional routers like we use and don’t give the necessary thought to where you are going to place it, it’s going to be difficult to get wi-fi coverage throughout the building. The thick walls block the signal. For the layperson user it’s tempting to blame the service but the service may well be fine - you might just need extra coverage in the home to counteract the thicker walls.
So what do you need? Quite probably, all your problems will be solved just by adding an extra access point to the network, or additional wiring to extend the range. This is something we are getting asked about more and more so we are adding it to our service. Even if you are not a customer of ours we will be happy to drop by and have a look at your network and recommend the best solution. If you are one of our customers we will tell you at the survey if your property is likely to need extra coverage. The whole point of Superfast Broadband is to be Superfast throughout with no time wasted waiting for pages to load. If you’d like to speak to us about your network drop us an email or phone us. We’ll be glad to help. 01872 885429
